Body Weld

Take a look around Body Weld! Place your mouse over the image and click to explore.

The body welding area has the responsibility of producing the automobile body or shell. The process begins by building the underbody or framework. The body sides and roof structures are built as major sub-assemblies which are moved by computer-controlled conveyance systems to the main framing stage.

Robots structurally weld these sub-assemblies together, forming the entire body shell at one time.  Next, critical dimensions are inspected and the doors, hood, trunk lid and fenders are installed.  A final inspection is performed and the metal is finished before the completed body is sent by overhead conveyor to the paint area.
