Most of the parts in our Toyota's North-American vehicles
come from suppliers in North America.
Parts and materials for our Kentucky-built Camrys
and Avalons
flow into Georgetown from some 33 states. We rely on 92 suppliers
from our home state of Kentucky alone, and hundreds of others
scattered across the continental United States.

To help our suppliers, Toyota created the Toyota Supplier
Support Center, based at our North American headquarters in
Erlanger, Kentucky. TSSC was developed as a consulting branch
to share knowledge about the Toyota production system with
companies who want to effectively link production activity
to sales in the marketplace.

The domestic content of Georgetown-built
vehicles continues to grow. More than 75 percent of
the parts used in vehicles
at TMMK are produced by U.S. Suppliers. 100 percent of the steel comes from North American sources. |
TSSC became part of Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America
in 1996. It provides guidance to manufacturers who seek to
raise productivity and improve product quality via the Toyota
Production System. To date, many companies that have worked
with the Supplier Support Center have demonstrated the long-term
effectiveness of the Toyota Production
System in a wide variety of settings.
