On behalf of Dorothy McManigle, this year’s Volunteer of the Year, a check was presented to a charity of her choice. GEORGETOWN, KENTUCKY, (April 4, 2011) — Business Planning Associate Dorothy McManigle is this year’s Volunteer of the Year.

She was honored for her numerous volunteer commitments including her time spent at the Kentucky Horse Park where she serves as a public tour guide, in addition to arranging volunteer work schedules.

McManigle also spends her time organizing collection and donation opportunities for the Salvation Army and Amen House, as well as providing transportation for the Central Kentucky Riding for Hope program.

For McManigle the urge to give back was learned at an early age. “My parents showed me that we are all able to weave into the life fabric of others by giving a bit of ourselves,” McManigle said.  “My most rewarding moments have been when I step away from the regimen of my daily life and offer a helping hand to others.”

Volunteer of the Year nominations are based on number of hours volunteered, diversity of the volunteer work, as well as participation in TMMK sponsored events and taking on leadership roles through volunteerism.
