When it comes to initial quality, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) knows how to roll. The facility’s Lexus line, which began production just last fall, has received the Platinum award — a tie with Toyota's Kyushu 2 plant (Lexus ES, RX) in Japan — in the 2016 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. The award represents the highest-performing assembly plant in the world for initial quality.
MIT Technology Review has named Toyota one of the world’s smartest companies, placing the automaker among respected tech leaders like Amazon, Alphabet, and Facebook, and ahead of others such as Microsoft, IBM, and Intel. Ranked #17, Toyota was one of only two automakers to achieve the distinction.
Toyota Motor North America, jointly with Wildlife Habitat Council and GM, was honored with the Keystone Leadership in Environment Award at the 23rd annual Keystone Policy Center awards dinner. Both automakers partnered with the Wildlife Habitat Council to expand wildlife habitat, support pollinator health and enhance biodiversity at manufacturing locations.
