Toyota Reports 2007 And December Sales |
With 12 consecutive years of record-breaking sales, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported best-ever year-end sales of 2,620,825 vehicles, up 2.7 percent over 2006. Selling 473,108 vehicles in 2007, the Toyota Camry is once again America’s best selling sedan. This marks the sixth time in a row that Camry was the highest seller and the tenth time in the last eleven years Camry has earned top honors. |

Toyota's North American Vehicle Production At Record Levels In 2007 |
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) boosted vehicle and engine production to record levels at its North American plants in 2007. Toyota built 1,671,009 vehicles, an eight percent increase, and 1,571,872 engines, a 10% increase. Gains are largely attributed to Tundra production ramp-up in Texas and Camry production in Indiana. North American Toyota production began in 1984 and has grown steadily over the years. Toyota's production has increased 39% over the last five years. In addition, this year Toyota will build its 20 millionth vehicle in North America including the 5 millionth Corolla. |

Toyota Stages World Debut Of All-New Venza At 2008 North American International Auto Show |
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., unveiled the all-new 2009 Venza crossover sedan at a press conference here today at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Venza will raise the crossover vehicle to new levels by combining a unique blend of sedan refinement and sport utility vehicle (SUV) functionality. All aspects of Venza’s engineering and design were targeted specifically for the North American market where it will be sold exclusively. Venza was primarily engineered at Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., and designed at Toyota’s Calty design studios in Newport Beach, Calif. and Ann Arbor, Mich. Venza will be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK), in Georgetown, Kentucky. |

TMMK Celebrates Record Turnout for 10th Annual Polar Bear Plunge |
For the tenth year in a row, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) has participated in the Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge. This year, Team Toyota raised a record $17,000, and claimed the title of “Top Fundraising Team.” Team Toyota was comprised of 31 team members from all over the manufacturing facility including Manufacturing Support and Powertrain Vice President Cheryl Jones.
Cheered on by TMMK President Steve St. Angelo, Jones braved the elements and physically threw herself into the spirit of volunteering.

Toyota Reports January Sales |
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported January sales of 171,849 vehicles, a decrease of 2.3 percent from last January. Toyota Division passenger cars recorded January sales of 83,409 units, down 3.8 percent from last January. Passenger-car sales were led by Camry, which posted best-ever January sales of 31,601, an increase of 0.4 percent over the same period last year. Camry Hybrid reported sales of 3,750 units in January, up 34 percent over January 2007. The Prius hybrid gas-electric mid-size sedan posted best-ever January sales of 11,379, an increase of 37.1 percent over last January. Yaris reported best-ever January sales of 7,666 units, up 30.6 percent over the year-ago month. |

Toyota Honors Year's Top Volunteers |
Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) honored its top volunteers during the company’s annual Volunteers In Place (VIP) Recognition Dinner held in Lexington, this past Saturday. The VIP program was developed in 1994 to encourage and recognize team member volunteer work while supporting TMMK's operating principles and firm commitment to good corporate citizenship.
Each year, TMMK honors its top five volunteers based on a scoring system that awards points in various areas including the number of hours worked, leadership roles undertaken and impact on the community. Along with being individually recognized, the volunteers selected an organization to receive a donation in their honor on behalf of TMMK. |

TMMK Volunteer Named US Youth Soccer Volunteer of the Year: Kentucky's John Duvall Honored at Awards Gala
|
A Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) team member has been named the 2007 U.S. Youth Soccer Volunteer of the Year.
John Duvall, a team member in Body Weld, was named the Region II Volunteer of the Year, representing the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association. The special announcement was made at the U.S. Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in Pittsburgh.
Duvall, a Paris, Ky. native, has been at TMMK for 18 years and is actively involved in the company’s Volunteers in Place (VIP) program. The VIP program was developed to encourage and recognize team member volunteer work while supporting TMMK's operating principles and firm commitment to good corporate citizenship.

Toyota Reports February Sales |
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported February sales of 182,169 vehicles, a decrease of 6.6 percent from last February.
The Toyota Division posted February sales of 160,892, a decrease of 6.3 percent from last February. The Lexus Division reported February sales of 21,277 units, a decrease of 9.3 percent from the year-ago month. Toyota Division passenger cars recorded February sales of 89,723 units, down 7.3 percent from last February. Passenger-car sales were led by Camry, which posted best-ever February sales of 34,914, an increase of 4.3 percent over the same period last year. Camry Hybrid reported sales of 4,121 units in February, up 19 percent over February 2007. |

Arbor Day Foundation And Toyota Partner To Make Virtual Trees…Real |
The Arbor Day Foundation and Toyota announced today that they have partnered to create a new Facebook application called Tree Planter. With the Tree Planter application, users can plant real trees in forests across the country - without even leaving their computer.
Using Tree Planter, users gift trees to their friends. For every gift sent to a friend, the Arbor Day Foundation plants a tree in one of eleven needy forests, including Custer National Forest, Hoosier National Forest, and Huron-Manistee National Forest. Many of these forests have suffered devastating effects from recent forest fires.

Audubon And Toyota Announce Five-Year Alliance To Promote Conservation Action And Grow Leaders Of Tomorrow |
The National Audubon Society and Toyota today launched TogetherGreen, a nationwide Audubon program to fund conservation projects, train environmental leaders, and offer volunteer opportunities to significantly benefit the environment.
A $20 million Toyota grant—the largest Audubon has received in its 103-year history—will fund TogetherGreen for five years, enabling Audubon to expand the scope and reach of its internationally-known conservation programs.

Six Chosen to Represent TMMK in Black Achievers Program |
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky is once again participating in the YMCA of Central Kentucky’s Black Adult Achievers program, which allows select men and women to serve as positive role models and mentors for area youth. The YMCA program offers various activities to expose students to career, educational and social opportunities not readily available to them. These opportunities are designed to help the students make informed decisions and develop the skills necessary to pursue productive and successful lives. The program is open to all students in grades 7 – 12 and has traditionally focused on the African-American communities.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported March sales of 217,730 vehicles, a decrease of 3.4 percent from last March.
Toyota Division passenger cars recorded March sales of 114,897 units, up 1.5 percent from last March. Passenger-car sales were led by Camry, which posted best-ever March sales of 40,487, an increase of 3.2 percent over the same period last year. Camry Hybrid reported sales of 6,930 units in March, up 45 percent over March 2007. |

EPA Recognizes Toyota With 2008 Energy Star® Sustained Excellence Award |
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc., (TEMA), with a 2008 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award in recognition of its continued leadership in protecting our environment through energy efficiency. TEMA's accomplishments were recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 1, 2008.
TEMA, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2003, was honored for its long-term commitment to energy efficiency and management across its ten manufacturing operations in the U.S. Across the nation, top companies and organizations are continuing to promote energy efficiency through participation in ENERGY STAR. Toyota Announces $5 Million Grant To National Park Support Organizations For Environmental Leadership Programs |
Toyota today announced a $5 million contribution in support of five National Parks and the National Park Foundation to enhance environmental leadership and educational programs at parks around the country. The company also will donate 23 vehicles to the National Parks.
Some of the funds may be used by the local fundraising partners such as Everglades National Parks for matching Federal funds as part of the National Park Centennial Challenge program highlighting the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016. |

Toyota Reports April Sales |
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported April sales of 217,700 vehicles, a decrease of 4.5 percent from last April.
Toyota Division passenger cars recorded April sales of 121,097 units, up 7.2 percent over the same period last year. Passenger-car sales were led by Camry, which posted April sales of 40,016 units. Camry Hybrid reported sales of 6,678 units in April, up 40 percent over April 2007. The Prius hybrid gas-electric mid-size sedan posted best-ever April sales of 21,757 units, an increase of 53.8 percent over last April. Yaris reported best-ever April sales of 11,434 units, up 45.9 percent over the year-ago month. |

Toyota Donates to Frankfort Red Cross |
Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) has given $1,000 to the American Red Cross-Frankfort Chapter. The donation will go towards the “Heroes Community Fundraising Campaign”, a three week media blitz designed to inform the community about the program and services the American Red Cross provides. Companies, civic organizations, churches and individuals can all contribute to the Heroes campaign. TMMK handpicked a team member with a local connection to present the group with a giant check at their recent Executive Committee meeting. Tim Ford, a resident of Franklin County for twenty years and Manager in TMMK’s Quality Control Department is very familiar with the work of the Red Cross. |

Worldwide Prius Sales Top 1 Million Mark |
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced today that worldwide cumulative sales of the Toyota Prius—the world's first mass-produced gasoline/electric hybrid vehicle—have passed the 1 million mark, with approximately 1,028,000 units sold as of the end of April this year. Team Members Honored at Toyota Perfect Attendance Ceremony, Fourteen Win Cars |
Fourteen team members from Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) are proud owners of new Toyota vehicles following this weekend’s Annual Perfect Attendance Ceremony held at Rupp Arena. Those on hand for the celebration were also treated to a night of entertainment featuring the amazing sounds of multiple Grammy Award nominee John Rich of Big & Rich fame and Grammy Award winning country artist Gretchen Wilson. This is the 18th year for the Perfect Attendance Ceremony. The idea of the ceremony based on perfect attendance is the result of Toyota’s high priority on work attendance. Team members celebrating multiple years of perfect attendance are rewarded with multiple entries in the vehicle drawing. For example an employee celebrating 16 years of perfect attendance would have 16 chances to win a vehicle. |

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported May sales of 257,404 vehicles, a decrease of 7.9 percent from last May, on a daily selling rate basis. Children of TMMK Team Members Receive Toyota Scholarships |
From a pool of hundreds of applicants, 13 children of TMMK team members have received a $1,250 scholarship from the Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) Scholarship Program. Each year TEMA awards 50 scholarships to children of eligible team members at all Toyota’s North American Manufacturing Companies. In addition to the TEMA Scholarship, TMMK has a Scholarship Fund which awards up to five, $1,000 scholarships specifically to children of deserving TMMK team members. In both scholarship programs, recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, and outside appraisals. Scholarships can be awarded to high school seniors or to students currently attending college. |

Center for Quality People & Organizations Receives Grant from Toyota |
Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) made a $50,000 grant donation to the Center for Quality People & Organizations (CQPO) during a check presentation at the Toyota plant today. The donation came after an application was submitted to help fund construction of a Project Based Learning Center on the campus of Scott County High School.
The Center for Quality People & Organizations began as a partnership in 1999 between QUEST and Scott County schools. Its mission is to address the gap identified between kindergarten and high school students in the competencies of teamwork and problem solving. QUEST teaches school administrators, teachers and students how to apply Toyota’s Quality Circle improvement process in the school environment and beyond. |

(TMMK) has awarded four grants to Kentucky United Ways across the Commonwealth totaling nearly $200,000 in support of education programs that focus on early childhood development. The four agencies receiving the grants include United Way of Southeastern Kentucky/Hazard-Perry County Community Ministries, Inc., in Hazard, Ky.; United Way of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky.; United Way of Pennyrile in Hopkinsville, Ky.; and United Way of Paducah-McCracken County in Paducah, Ky. All donations will provide seed money for new sustainable programs. |

Thirty-two TMMK team members were recently honored at a special ceremony for earning their post secondary degrees. Many of the graduates received their degrees through the “Reach for the Stars” program, which allows team members to attend classes between shifts. Visiting universities host classes on-site, providing a convenient opportunity for team members to pursue higher education. Toyota Reports June, Second-Quarter And First-Half Sales |
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported half-year sales of 1,240,086 vehicles. For the month of June, TMS recorded sales of 193,234 units, a decrease of 11.5 percent from last June, on a daily selling rate basis.
Toyota Division passenger cars recorded June sales of 119,024 units, up 4.4 percent over the same period last year. Passenger car sales were led by Corolla, which posted best-ever June sales of 42,180 units, up 30 percent over June 2007. Camry and Camry Hybrid reported combined sales of 41,572 units in June, up 0.3 percent over the year-ago month. Camry Hybrid recorded June sales of 3,054 units. With limited availability, the Prius hybrid gas-electric mid-size sedan posted June sales of 11,765 units. Yaris recorded monthly sales of 8,472 units, up 4.1 percent over last June. |

TMMK Donates $50,000 to Kentucky Natural Lands Trust |
Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) has awarded a $50,000 grant to the Kentucky Natural Lands Trust (KNLT) to support the Save Kentucky’s Hemlock Project. The project is focused on saving hemlock trees that have become the target of the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, an insect that feeds on the needles of the hemlock and can cause death to the trees within three to five years.
Kentucky Natural Lands Trust along with a diverse team of foresters, wildlife biologists, entomologists, public officials, and citizens has formed Save Kentucky’s Hemlocks. The new group has received strong public support for its efforts to protect and save hemlocks from the adelgid. |

Toyota to build Prius in U.S.
Highlander to Indiana; all Tundra to Texas |
Toyota is responding to changes in consumer demand and improving the production efficiency and stability of its North American operations by adjusting production mix at three plants. The changes include the addition of the Prius hybrid sedan to its North American lineup.
Prius will be built at a plant under construction in Blue Springs, Miss. Production is scheduled to begin in late 2010. Prius, which will join the Kentucky-built Camry Hybrid as the second Toyota hybrid built in North America, enables Toyota to better respond to increased consumer demand for hybrid vehicles.
The Highlander mid-size SUV, originally scheduled to be built in Mississippi, will now be manufactured in Princeton, Ind., beginning in Fall 2009 |

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported July sales of 197,424 vehicles, a decrease of 18.7 percent from last July, on a daily selling rate basis.
The Toyota Division posted July sales of 175,242 units, a decrease of 17.9 percent from last July. The Lexus Division reported July sales of 22,182 units, a decrease of 24.6 percent from the year-ago month. |

TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today the publication of its "Sustainability Report 2008: Towards a New Future for People, Society and the Planet", which outlines TMC's environmental and social activities conducted primarily during 2007 and the concepts and policies that serve as their foundation.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported August sales of 211,533 vehicles, a decrease of 9.4 percent from last August, on a daily selling rate basis.
Toyota Division passenger cars recorded August sales of 111,778 units, down 3.4 percent from the same period last year. Passenger car sales were led by Camry and Camry Hybrid, which posted combined sales of 44,064 units, up 3.3 percent over August 2007. Camry Hybrid reported August sales of 3,456 units. Corolla recorded sales of 29,443 units for the month. With limited availability, the Prius mid-size gas-electric hybrid posted August sales of 13,463 units. Yaris reported sales of 9,474 units for the month, up 20.5 percent over the year-ago month. |

Toyota Prepares for National Public Lands Day |
TMMK is inviting team members and volunteers from surrounding communities to take part in 2008 National Public Lands Day (NPLD) activities. NPLD is a program of the National Environmental Education & Training Foundation in partnership with federal, state and local public land agencies and not-for profit organizations.
On September 27, 2008, TMMK volunteers will gather at the Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort to help build a 200-ft. boardwalk along the “Toyota HabiTrek Trail.” This trail was part of an original project that TMMK supported in 2003. TMMK has also sponsored projects at the Salato facility, including the Living Stream Project. The boardwalk will help make a portion of the trail – handicap accessible. |

Toyota Begins Testing Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles in UK |
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that together with EDF Energy, the British subsidiary of the French energy company EDF, it began testing TMC-produced plug-in hybrid vehicles on public roads in the United Kingdom on September 10.
The UK road tests, like those conducted with EDF in France starting in autumn 2007, involve setting up necessary infrastructure, evaluating vehicle performance and ease-of-use, and surveying participating vehicle users. Plans call for the test period to continue for more than one year. |

TMMK Helping the Environment By Hosting SupeRecycling Day |
TMMK’s Environmental Engineering Division is hosting an event to help team members discard household items that can not be tossed into their weekly trash pickup. On September 26, from 11 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 6 p.m., team members are invited to bring in unwanted household items. Third shift team members can drop off their waste items from 7 to 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27. The general public is also invited to drop off their items on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
While SupeRecycling Day is a new event, team members may recognize it as the combination of past Fall Haul Events and 2007’s E-Cycling Day. TMMK volunteers will gladly unload items from your car and discard of them properly. Follow directional signs for the drop off point located at Gate 7. |

Toyota Companies Pledge $1,000,000 to Hurricane Ike Relief |
Toyota today announced a $1,000,000 contribution directed to disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Ike. The donations are being made to two organizations:
- The American Red Cross will receive $500,000 from four Toyota companies: California-based Toyota Motor Sales USA and Toyota Financial Services; New York-based Toyota Motor North America; and Kentucky-based Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America.
- The Friedkin Family, who owns Gulf States Toyota, a privately owned Toyota distributorship, contributed $500,000 to the Friedkin Disaster Relief Fund. This fund was established after Hurricane Katrina and aids Toyota and dealership employees and their families in the Gulf Sates region with both immediate and long-term needs resulting from disasters such as Hurricane Ike.

Toyota To Display CNG-Powered Camry Hybrid Concept At 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show |
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., announced here today at its Sustainable Mobility Seminar that it will display a compressed natural gas (CNG) Camry Hybrid concept vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
"With the combination of plentiful long-term supplies in North America, improved and more efficient recovery methods, favorable pricing and clean-burn/low emissions characteristics, CNG has become a prime energy-source for the future," said Irv Miller, group vice president, TMS Corporate Communications.
The benefits of CNG are currently being amplified by rapidly changing market conditions and an increase in consumer environmental awareness. |

Largest Single-Roof Solar Installation In North America To Power Toyota Parts Center |
The largest single-roof solar power installation in North America will begin operation in early October at Toyota's North America Parts Center California (NAPCC), located in Ontario, Calif.
The solar installation will provide nearly 60 percent of the total electricity requirements for the 760,000-square foot NAPCC. The installation covers more than 242,000 square-feet of the NAPCC's roof and includes 10,417 solar modules, enough to cover more than four football fields. |

Toyota And Community Team Up To Support National Public Lands Day Activities |
Community volunteers and team members from Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) gathered at the Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort on Saturday, September 27, 2008 as part of the 15th annual National Public Lands Day activities.
National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. Last year, 110,000 volunteers built trails and bridges, planted trees and plants, and removed trash and invasive plants. |

TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that it has developed an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) rear window curtain shield airbag—the world's first, according to TMC research, as of September 2008 — to protect rear passengers' heads in the event of a rear-end collision.
The innovative airbag deploys from the roof lining above the rear window in the form of a curtain-like barrier. Together with the headrests, the airbag minimizes impact to the head from a colliding vehicle or parts of the hit vehicle, thus helping to reduce the severity of injuries. Its use in the soon-to-be launched "iQ" ultra-compact four-seater is expected to approximately double the car's rear passenger head protection performance. |

Forty-one projects in 24 states will receive TogetherGreen Conservation Innovation Grants totaling $1.4 million dollars. Winners were selected from applicants nationwide for their innovative approaches to inspiring, equipping and engaging people to tackle environmental problems and take advantage of opportunities in their communities. Toyota Announces Prices For New 2009 Venza |
Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today announced manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the 2009 Toyota Venza. MSRPs will range from $25,975 for the four-cylinder with front-wheel-drive (FWD) model to $29,250 for the V6 with all-wheel-drive (AWD). Venza V6 models will start hitting dealerships in early December, with full production and sales of both engines in January. |
