Toyota Will Visit Six Non-Profit Agencies During National Volunteer Day

Forty-nine team members from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) will devote their entire workday as volunteers for six different non-profit agencies, during Toyota’s Fifth Annual Volunteer Day this Wednesday, April 24, 2002.

TMMK Donates Two Sienna Minivans to Local Agencies

Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) is donating a 2003 Sienna minivan to the Salvation Army of Georgetown/Scott County and to the Georgetown/Scott County Senior Citizens Center. The donations occur on the same day that Toyota builds its ten millionth vehicle in North America

Ten Millionth Toyota Built In North America Rolls Off Georgetown Production Line

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc., celebrated the ten millionth vehicle manufactured in North America at a ceremony at its Georgetown, Kentucky facility on July 29th, 2002. This milestone celebrates 16 years of manufacturing in the US and Canada and a $13 billion investment by Toyota in North American operations. North America today is the centerpiece of the company’s growth strategy, allowing Toyota to secure its place as one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers.

Toyota Trains Team Members In Emergency Response

A group of team members from Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) is receiving special training to increase the company’s ability to respond to a variety of potential emergency situations.

TMMK and National Public Lands Day

Over 60 TMMK team members came together along with their families and friends to begin work on Griffith Woods in Cynthiana on October 12, 2002. The work, part of National Public Lands Day, was the start of an effort to turn the woods into a nature preserve that will be open for the public to enjoy in just a few years. The working group, which totaled about 120, also included four Boy Scout Troops (Troop 117-Georgetown, Troop 282-Lexington, Pack 60-Cynthiana, Troop 67-Paris) and one Girl Scout Troop (Troop 702-Georgetown). Volunteers had several duties, including clearing two and one-half miles of trail; killing weeds; salvaging buckeyes, blue ash, oaks, and pawpaw seedlings; and measuring trees for historical purposes.

TMMK President Gary Convis Is Honored With National Guard Award

On Saturday, November 16, 2002, TMMK and TMMK President Gary Convis were honored by the U.S. National Guard as being one of three local recipients of the "My Boss Is A Patriot" award. Richard VonHoven, a TMMK team member serving in the Naval Reserve Unit in Lexington, Kentucky submitted the nomination for this prestigious award.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK's) tour program and visitor center has been selected and featured as one of the best in the United States by factory tour experts Karen Axelrod and Bruce Brumberg in the new edition of their book, Watch It Made in the U.S.A. Factory tours have become increasingly popular as low-cost vacation attractions for family and business travelers, day outings for local residents, and educational field trips for schools.
