Children of TMMK Team Members Receive Toyota Scholarships

GEORGETOWN, KENTUCKY, (June 5, 2008) — From a pool of hundreds of applicants, 13 children of TMMK team members have received a $1,250 scholarship from the Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) Scholarship Program. Each year TEMA awards 50 scholarships to children of eligible team members at all Toyota’s North American Manufacturing Companies. The below TMMK team member’s children were honored at a recent ceremony at the Visitor Center.
- Jessica Allen, daughter of Randy Allen (QC I0), Harrodsburg, $1,250
- Bethany Begley, daughter of Willie Begley (Paint Maint),Paris, $1,250
- Morgan Bullock, daughter of Theresa Talley (Powertrain Engineering), Frankfort, $1,250
- Dericka Canada, daughter of Derrick Canada (Powertrain), Lexington, $1,250
- Papa Chakravarthy, son of Dr. Vasu Chakravarthy, (Powertrain QE), Lexington, $1,250
- Erin Fields, daughter of Debbie Fields (HR), Lexington $1,250
- Stephanie Lenox, daughter of Libby Lenox (Powertrain Admin), Paris, $1,250
- Joshua Mitchell, son of R. Marty Mitchell (Paint), Frankfort, $1,250
- Cassondra Murphy, daughter of Madison Dale Murphy (Powertrain), Denniston, $1,250
- Samantha Richardson, daughter of Gary Richardson (Body Weld PE), Sadieville, $1,250
- Sarah Rody, daughter of Joseph Rody (Stamping), Georgetown, $1,250
- Paige Weherley, daughter of Steve Weherley (Stamping), Lexington, $1,250
- Jennifer Wells, daughter of Jim Wells (Body Weld) Cynthiana, $1,250
In addition to the TEMA Scholarship, TMMK has a Scholarship Fund which awards up to five, $1,000 scholarships specifically to children of deserving TMMK team members. These students were also honored at the Visitor Center ceremony on June 5.

- Scott Ashcraft, son of Brett Ashcraft (Assembly 1), Lexington , $1,000
- Jacob Cheesman, son of Jim Cheesman (Paint PE), Williamstown, $1,000
- Kimberly Kennedy, daughter of Gerald Kennedy (Plastics), Cynthiana, $1,000
- Justin Penticuff, son of Darryl Penticuff (QC Admin) Winchester, $1,000
In both scholarship programs, recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, and outside appraisals. Scholarships can be awarded to high school seniors or to students currently attending college. Awards are non-renewable and will be granted to each student for one year only.
TMMK has an annual production capacity of 500,000 vehicles and engines and employs about 7,000 team members.
