GEORGETOWN, KENTUCKY, (May 13, 2008) — Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) has given $1,000 to the American Red Cross-Frankfort Chapter. The donation will go towards the “Heroes Community Fundraising Campaign”, a three week media blitz designed to inform the community about the program and services the American Red Cross provides. Companies, civic organizations, churches and individuals can all contribute to the Heroes campaign. TMMK handpicked a team member with a local connection to present the group with a giant check at their recent Executive Committee meeting. Tim Ford, a resident of Franklin County for twenty years and Manager in TMMK’s Quality Control Department is very familiar with the work of the Red Cross. “From my former career as a medical lab technician I am very familiar with the work the Red Cross blood banks perform through their blood donation drives,” Ford explained. “Through my volunteer work at local churches I am also aware of the work they do with disaster relief efforts across our nation and right here in Franklin County. I am glad I could represent Toyota as they support such a great organization,” he added. The $1,000 donation is just one of many monetary offerings TMMK makes to the community through its contributions program. Toyota believes in becoming an integral part of its communities by supporting its team members’ volunteer efforts and supporting organizations that provide a vital service to their communities. TMMK, located in Georgetown, Ky., is Toyota’s largest North American manufacturing facility. TMMK manufactures the number one selling Camry sedan, along with the Avalon, Solara Coupe and Solara Convertible. The plant employs approximately 7,000 full time team members.
