GEORGETOWN, KENTUCKY, (September 6, 2006) —The Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League (TBML) celebrated Opening Day Ceremonies at its recently completed field at Shillito Park in Lexington, Ky. The TBML is a non-profit corporation formed to give children with any special needs, physical or mental, an opportunity to play baseball in an organized league. The Miracle League field at Shillito Park is the only one of its kind in the entire state.
"This program is very near and dear to my heart," stated Kevin Weaver, President of the Toyota Bluegrass Miracle League. "Our hope is that this league will make dreams come true for hundreds of children in Central Kentucky and surrounding areas of the state." TBML and the Rotary Club of Lexington are raising the funds to construct a fully accessible special playing surface and accessory facilities at Shillito Park behind the Fayette Mall. The title sponsors for the league are Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc., BB&T and the Rotary Club of Lexington. The TBML has an agreement with the YMCA of Central Kentucky for management services for the operation of the field, facilities and league operations.
The official TBML fall season will run September 9 through October 14 with games each Saturday. The league is open to children ages 5-19 and kids can register to play at www.bluegrassmiracleleague.org or by calling (859) 367-7347. ###### Contact: |
